Roberto Montemanni is professor of advanced algorithms at the University of Applied Sciences of Southern Switzerland. He is also active as senior researcher at the Dalle Molle Institute for Artificial Intelligence and as research advisor for PhD students at the University of Lugano, Switzerland. He obtained a Laurea degree in Computer Science from the University of Bologna, Italy in 1999 and a Ph.D. in Applied Mathematics from the University of Glamorgan, UK in 2002. He is leading basic and applied research projects both at national and international levels. His main research interests are in the field of algorithms with applications in ICT and optimization.

Mettina Veenstra (1967) studied Language Technology and Artificial Intelligence at the University of Groningen. In addition, she studied Scandinavian languages and literature. In 1998 she obtained her PhD at the University of Groningen with a thesis on computational linguistics.

Since November 2013 Mettina Veenstra is professor Media, Technology & Design at Saxion. She focuses on applied research and innovation in the field of smart cities and open data, with a focus on public space.

Veenstra previously worked at Novay and the Amsterdam University of Applies Sciences, where she managed the special professorship Interactive Public Spaces of the knowledge centre CREATE IT. Both at Novay and at the Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences she conducted research and gave advice on information technology in the public space. The emphasis of her research was on interactive and intelligent displays in public spaces, sensors and privacy aspects.

During the past years Mettina Veenstra performed and guided several regional and European research projects on ICT in the public space. Examples are research projects on ICT in relation to tourism, shopping areas, residential areas and libraries. Veenstra is co-author of the Guidebook Screens in public space (in Dutch). From 2004 to 2009 at Novay, then called Telematics Institute, she was the leader of the research group Media Interaction. She is a (former) member of various Boards of Supervision and (review) committees. She also gave guidance to a number of PhD students.

Siauw Gie Kian is Senior Development Manager at PT Global Digital Niaga (Blibli.com).  He is responsible in the development of the Commerce and Analytic system.  Previously he served as Director of Software Engineering at MicroStrategy.  He obtained his Master degree in Computer Science from Johns Hopkins University and Bachelor degree in Chemical Engineering from University of Wisconsin – Madison.
